Betfair has Become One of the UK’s Fastest Growing Tech Companies

Betfair was recently named in the Sunday Times Tech Track 100 as the 7th fastest growing technology company in the UK. The Sunday Times Microsoft Tech Track 100 is a publication that ranks the quickest growing private technology companies in Britian. Tech Track ranks the companies by comparing sales that take place over a two year period. The last two year period occurred between 2002 and 2004, and revealed Betfair as number 7 out of the top 10.

Betfair’s Chief Executive, Stephen Hill, commented that technology is the foundation of Betfair’s success. Furthermore, the application of their technology comprises the betting exchange format, which has revolutionized the way in which many gamblers bet. This is something that Betfair is truly proud of, especially considering this achievement occurred in a relatively short span of time.

In order to make sure that their betting platform is the most resilient and the fastest in the industry, Betfair has already made an investment of £30 million. On top of that, Betfair has every intention of adding an additional investment of £20 million by the end of this year.

More than 5 million wagers are placed every day by Betfair customers. Of all these wagers, over 99.9 percent are transacted in one second or less. Due to Betfair’s technology use, their customers are eligible to be “in-play”. This means that customers can continue to make wagers even after an event has begun.
