New Director joins eCOGRA
28
September 2005
It was recently announced by the
independent chairman of eCORGA, Michael Hirst, that Karl
Magnusson, a Swedish national, will join eCORGA’s online
gambling self-regulatory bodied board of directors.
Karl Magnusson is an excellent addition to eCORGA, as he
is one of the directors of Ongame, a software developer
which resides in Stockholm Sweden and powers one of the
biggest poker operations in the industry –
PokerRoom.com. On top of that, Magnusson is also one of
the directors of the UK companies Nordicone Ltd. and
Ongame Ltd. In addition he has extensive experience when
it comes to the financial and general management of
major organizations that include ABN Amro’s Alfred Berg
Asset Management, as well as the government of Sweden’s
financial statistics department.
Michael Hirst said that eCORGA welcomes Magnusson, and
is proud to have such an individual who brings valuable
management and financial expertise to their
establishment. Magnusson is a compliment to the already
high caliber group of directors eCORGA currently has.
Their professional team consists of highly respected
individuals that include Frank Catania and Bill Galston,
who work in harmony with the leading industry executives
Roger Raatgever from Microgaming and John Anderson from
Cassava.
Ongame has become the latest and third major Internet
gambling Software Company to unite with eCORGA’s
self-regulatory initiative. This particular program is
one that looks for a way to protect players through
their “Play It Safe” seal. This seal is currently
featured on over 50 online casino and poker room
websites. Altogether, eCORGA’s members make up more than
80 percent of the Internet casino industry’s turnover,
and provide software to three out of the six top poker
networks.
eCORGA works to protect players by allowing them the
opportunity to control their gambling if they have a
problem, and also helps to control underage gambling.
Thus, players who see the eCORGA seal at the online
casino or poker room website they are playing at know
that the company is concerned about their personal
welfare as a player.
