Online Casino Bodog.com Plans to Promote NBA Dress Code Violation

October 2005
Bodog.com, a popular online casino that
loves to make the headlines, has recently offered to
cover the fines player Allen Iverson of the Philadelphia
76ers’ may receive due to violating the NBA’s dress code
for this season. Furthermore, Bodog intends to provide
similar offers to the rest of the players in the NBA.
New rules have been made within the NBA regarding player
dress code. The new regulations that have been made this
season indicate that professional basketball players
within the league are expected to dress in
business-casual wear whenever they participate in
activities related to the league or their team.
Therefore, whenever players arrive or leave games they
must follows this dress code, as well as when they are
in interviews, or making a promotional appearance. Any
player who is found not following the dress code is
subject to a fine for this violation.
Bodog understands the frustration this new rule has
caused many of the players, and that is why they will
make the effort to pay the fines of all players who
accept their offer in a unique way. In the case of
Iverson, the CEO of Bodog, Calvin Ayre, has stated that
even if Iverson pays his own fines, Bodog will reimburse
any of the fines by matching the amount and donating it
to Iverson’s Crossover Foundation. Iverson’s charity has
been set up to support underprivileged inner city youth.
Ayre recently commented that he realizes the frustration
that many of the pro basketball players feel from being
forced to conform to the NBA’s sudden new dress code.
And since Iverson and a number of other NBA players have
implied that they will not conform to the new dress
code, Bodog is offering them their support by
reimbursing any fines they receive, and matching these
payments with a donation to the charity choice of each
player.
