A Possible Float Could Occur for Online Casino Software Provider Playtech
20
October 2005
Although there are many big names within
the online casino industry, Playtech is one of the top
names on the list, and there have been rumors that it
could float on the London Stock Exchange. Playtech is
the outstanding company which provides software to a
vast number of online casinos. Essentially, Playtech
powers gambling sites, allowing players to enjoy the
games on these sites from their home computers. Playtech
has only been around since 1999, they are best known for
supplying and developing the software that powers some
of the net’s best online casinos.
There have been recent whispers within the internet
casino industry that indicate Playtech could be one of
the next huge companies to float on the London Stock
Exchange. However, Playtech has kept their future
financial plans quiet, even though it’s no secret that
the online casino company is easily worth an estimated
$900 million dollars.
Nevertheless, it has been speculated that Playtech is
considering floating their stock, as it has been rumored
they have even made the effort to hire stockbroker
Collins Stewart to examine all of Playtech’s best
options. Naturally, with a net worth that is estimated
at almost $900 million dollars, the news of Playtech’s
floatation has definitely created a buzz in the online
casino industry. Despite this buzz, Playtech still
wishes to keep their decisions quiet, as there has
recently been some unstable action and speculation
concerning the online casino stocks, which is partially
due to moves that Party Gaming has recently made.
Investors in the stock exchange have become apprehensive
due to the recent events that have occurred, and for the
most part want to avoid any over inflated stock prices.
That being the case, many investors are anticipating a
reduction in online casino stock, and will watch
Playtech closely to see if they actually end up on the
London Stock Exchange in the near future.
