The Gaming Commission and eCOGRA have Teamed Up
14
November 2005
eCOGRA, the online gambling industry’s
independent player assurance organization, has teamed up
with the Kahnawake Gaming Comission. Both companies have
agreed to come together and work towards the common goal
of ensuring player protection measures that include
dispute resolution and fair gaming, which will be
constantly applied to all companies who operate under
the rules designed by eCOGRA and Gaming Comission.
The new agreement will affect an extensive range of
online casinos and poker rooms that make up a
significant amount of the existing industry business. It
is estimated that the Gaming Commission currently has
300 online gambling venues as licensees, while the
eCOGRA “Play It Safe” seal is currently carried by 56
major Internet gambling sites.
According to Murray Marshall, the legal counsel to the
Gaming Commission, the Comission shares a common goal
with eCOGRA, as both companies wish to ensure that
players are provided with fair gaming, as well as the
most courteous and efficient service by online casinos
and poker rooms that have been licensed by the Gaming
Commission.”
What’s more is the new agreement made by the two
companies also guarantees more cooperation will be
provided between the organizations when it comes to
player disputes. This guarantee has been set up so that
players will be treated independently, fairly and within
an ideal length of time.
eCOGRA’s CEO, Andrew Beveridge, commented that eCOGRA is
eager to associate with any authority that shares their
values, and because of this eCOGRA regards their
relationship with the Gaming Commission as one that is
truly successful. They know that with the help of the
Commission, they will take important steps toward
constant regulation to ensure safer online gambling.
