Americans In favor of US making Online Casinos Legal
20
December 2005
It is well known that while online
gambling is popular among US citizens, currently online
casinos are illegal in the US, and therefore no American
online casino site exists. The online casino issue has
always been a constant hot topic within the US
government, and now American online casino players are
expressing their opinions.
The readers of the popular next-generation media site,
Scooop.net, have voted in favor of US online casinos
being able to operate and take part in the multi-billion
dollar online gambling industry. The outcome of this
vote was based on a two thirds majority that believed
online gambling should be made legal in the United
States. This study was performed by Scooop.net, and was
done in order to find out the level of support of
Americans who wanted the current online casino gaming
laws changed.
It is interesting to note that those readers who voted
in Scoop.net’s study, also pointed out that they would
feel more secure if they played at an online casino that
was operated under US regulations. That being the case,
this fact could imply that if the US were to allow
American based online casinos, they would attract many
of their own citizens to their sites, as they would feel
more comfortable playing at a casino they feel they
could trust implicitly.
If the US government ever chooses to legalize online
gambling in America, there is no question that they
would certainly profit from this move. In fact, it has
been estimated that the United States government could
have easily collected tax revenues from online gambling,
amounting to a whopping $1.8 billion dollars – and
that’s only including American players! However, time
will only tell if the US government cracks their current
legislation to cash in on the industry they’ve been
snubbing for so long.
