Third Caribbean Poker Tournament hosted by PokerStars.com

The upcoming 2006 Caribbean Poker
Tournament, that is set to be held at one of the world’s
most lavish casino resorts in the Bahamas, will be the
third annual PokerStars Caribbean Adventure. The
tournament will be held at the Atlantis Casino Resort
from January 5 to the 11, 2006. This event is
anticipated to be huge, as some of the biggest poker
names are set to attend.
PokerStars.com is the largest online tournament poker
website, and this year at their 2006 Caribbean Poker
Tournament, it is believed that they will attract the
three previous world poker champions:
2003 champion – Chris Moneymaker
2004 champion – Greg Raymer
2005 champion – Joe Hacehm
In addition to these big names, the 1983 World Series of
Poker champion, Tom McEvoy will be in attendance, as
will John Gale, the English poker player who was the
proud winner of last years PokerStars Caribbean
Adventure. Gale is expected to defend his title as he
goes up against yet another set of skilled poker
players.
This will be the third year that the PokerStars
Caribbean Adventure championship tournament will be
taped and broadcasted, so that interested American
viewers can watch it on the Travel Channel, while other
viewers from various countries can also view it on
designated networks across the globe.
The championship event costs every player $8 thousand
dollars to enter, and it is estimated that 600 players
(both professionals and amateurs) are expected to
participate in the various tournaments that take place
during the 6-day event. Thus, the total prize pool for
the 2006 Caribbean Poker Tournament is anticipated at $5
million dollars.
PokerStars.com will be giving away free packages to the
tournament (more than $750 thousand dollars worth) at
their site. The free packages will consist of the $8
thousand dollar entry fee, a week for two at the
Atlantis Resort and Casino (including meals), located on
the beautiful Paradise Island in the Bahamas, as well as
$1 thousand dollars in spending money.
